Hello, this is my first post so bear with me. I found this coin on the Thames foreshore eyes only. My question is, the spacing between the R and the E in Rex seems larger than what I've seen before....or is it just me?
Thanks for looking,
Dean

There are so many varieties on early copper with letters/numerals.
Nice find though.

I've seen a few shows about searching along the Thames. Do you need a license to search there (digging or "eyes only") or can anyone do it?

Very nice coin for all those years in the elements.

deano69- Although there were many varieties of coins of this date, I'm going go with my gut on this one and say that it is a contemporary circulating counterfeit. Still a great, interesting piece, and you can't beat the price.
