does anybody else see what looks like a C in the area of where a MM would be?

well you do have a high-date with a downward slope on the "3" but there are other mints producing that diagnostic so it is not the sticking point. I do not see any signs of a die crack where the mm would be and that is an absolute tell-tale. Could the harsh cleaning have taken the die crack diagnostic away? I'm not sure that is feasible.

I also agree with Amidia regarding Pareidolia

thanks for all of the replies. maybe conder101 might give his opinion of the coin. he would know for sure whether or not it is the CC variety.

As mentioned there is only one variety for 1873 CC W/arrows. Look at the shaft of the right arrowhead compared to where it points at the 3. On yours it definitely points below the joint of the upper and lower curves of the 3. on the 73 CC W/arrows it at or a little above the joint. Look at the picture on the website Meadowview posted.

So wrong obv, can't be the 1873 CC
