I have two small coins (size and weight unknown), this is the first. I have tried all sorts of combination of letters in wildwinds partial inscription search with no luck. I just thought it was very attractive.

Interesting little coin, I haven't been able to figure out the legend either.

It looks provincial. Have you tried the Greek letters in wildwinds?

My bet is Syrian, Severus Alexander.

Syrian would make sense with the patina.

Put a variety of letter combinations into the partial word search on wildwinds, nothing.

I like TIF's Syrian guess, but i'll go elagabalus or caracalla.

Checked Wildwind for Elagabalus and Caracalla, no joy. Am assuming that the bottom coin is the emperor radiate. It is possible that the first coin is Tyche. My eyes are too tired, will have a look at acsearch and coinproject tomorrow.

Portraits are such a guessing game with Provincials... could be Caracalla, Geta, Elagabalus, Sev Alex, Diadumenian...
Even if it is Syrian that's still a lot of territory and searching!
Pish has become the ID pro-- I bet she can find it.

Any chance this could be a crude, barbarous imitative with a corrupted legend?
