I was looking at this 1914-D
http://cgi.ebay.com/1914-D-LINCOLN-...ER_W0QQitemZ130139921677

Then as usual I was checking out the competed items and noticed this-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...photohosting

Now I am no Lincoln expert, maybe the gouge on the lower part of the reverse is a die marker or something that I am unaware of. To me though it looks like the same gouges, just a couple buffed out, and retoned? I almost bought a S-VDB from him but we could not come to terms on payment method. I am not accusing this seller of anything, it just looks like the same cent to me.

I'm no expert either, but there are some spooky similarities. For example, the two horizontal marks on the obverse, in the center of Lincolns chest, level with the mint mark.

I noticed he had bought a bunch of S-VDB's, 55 DDO's and 14-D's in the past(a couple months ago) and just thought he was competing a roll collection or getting a few of each and picking out the best one. I never noticed any high grade purchases and always saw the high grades for sell. I have heard of flipping coins, but I do not think this is what was meant by it.

I have to change my answer a little - momentary lapse of reason: the two marks I was seeing are supposed to be there. I'm not used to seeing blown up coins (or good condition coins).

I'm still not sure if it's the same coin.

They are not even close to being the same coin .

although I believe they are both real ,, the first is a far superior example.

Metalman take another look, check out this pic, note the 2 scratches on the lower reverse-
http://i20.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/a5/6c/a611_3.jpg

Then take a look at the same location on this pic-
http://i14.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/ag/79/7840_1.jpg

Then look under the of America in both, notice the swirl marks, they are in the same location for both pics. The more I look at this the more I am inclined to say it is the same cent.

Well it sold for $3150 and he has another "doctored" one up
Look carefully at the reverse, especially the "N" in cent.

There are similarities between the two. Some marks on the first coin are not on the second. It could be a photoshop job? I wouldn't take a chance on this coin.

they are the same coin, if you look at the one auction the buyer is the seller of the other coin so I have to say that it is the exact coin. lens-doc won this auction--> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...photohosting and he is the seller of this auction---> http://cgi.ebay.com/1914-D-LINCOLN-...ER_W0QQitemZ130139921677QQihZ003QQcategoryZ39456QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

In this one, the reverses look the same to me, but the obverses look different.
