TypeCoin971793 Pillar of the Community United States 6370 Posts	Posted 06/03/2014 2:00 pm The flat areas make the coin look EF-45, but there seems to be too much luster for an EF grade, so I'm thinking that it may be because of a weak strike. Assuming that is correct, I believe your coin grades AU-53 or AU-55. We need much better photos to tell with certainty. I believe your coin is original and has not been cleaned. CBJesse New Member United States 26 Posts	Posted 06/05/2014 12:13 am I concur with the previous two attributions, O-146, R-2. There are only two 1827's with a Curl Base 2, so that narrows the 49 die marriages down greatly. The joined A-A, T-I position and the position of the end of the scroll confirm your coin as an O-146. Grade-wise, I would grade it an AU-53; as the previous posters said, it has a weak strike. Further, it looks to be retoning from a dip, though I've seen similar coins graded by the top two TPGs.
