Proxibid - I have tons of things on my watch list. I am rarely available to bid at the auctions...which is probably a good thing.

How high did it end up going for? I've seen quite a few of these, I'd love a Two Cent Piece about like this - but I could never afford that today! One of my dealer/friends Frank has 3 really nice Mercury dimes for sale, they too are pretty expensive, yet still on the affordable side of life. See the second page of listings for 4 or 5 neat Mercs off center. Heck if you buy one tell him I sent you, maybe he will cut me a deal on my next 2¢ piece I buy from him - Frank wrote two great books on 2¢'ers. [seller]frankleone[/seller]

The hammer price was $800 plus 15% buyer's fee. I had put in a pre-bid at $60

Update: this coin was just re-listed on Proxibid and sold for $1000. Still out of my price range but fun to watch at auction.

$700-1000 seems reasonalbe of a classic type coin major error like this the trouble with finding a ¢2 piece off center is the price usually goes into the $5K+ range.

Normally I do not bump threads like this but - she's baaaaack! Up on Proxibid again but this time the listing states: Quote: WAY OFF CENTER THE FIRST WE HAVE HAD LIKE THIS. ESTIMATE $1500 - $1650. The same auction company sold it for $800 and again for $1000. "First we have had like this", Really? Oh well, I'll have fun watching the third time this baby is sold.

There should be some form of discount...it's an incomplete coin!
It must be pretty hot too, nobody seems to want to hold on to it for too long.
