While 100 kronur may sound like a lot, it wasn't in Iceland. The decline and collapse of the Atlantic fishing and whaling industries seriously damaged Iceland's economy at the time, causing inflation. In 1981, the old krona was replaced with the new krona at a ratio of 100:1, but coins denominated less than 1 new krona haven't been issued since 1986.
My old Pick catalogue (2002) lists your note as having been issued 1961-1981, CV $3 in Unc, $1.50 in VF.
If you're curious, the guy on the front is Tryggvi Gunnarsson, one of the early directors of the Landsbanki Islands, the original central bank of Iceland. The town scene is apparently in the historic village of Holar. The mountain on the back is Hekla, one of Iceland's many active volcanoes.
