I was looking at this coin last night. It's so well thought out, and a classic quote from Dwight D Eisenhower. I think it is definitely in my top five commemoratives. The soldier charging the beach at Znormandy is sad! yet shows the bravery of my Father's generation. Our modern day soldiers on patrol in Afghanistan are just as brave though.o

@jetboy: Glad you like 'em! Do you collect US commemoratives?
An interesting side note about these WWII coins, they do not feature the date of their minting. The coins were released in 1993, but only have the dual dates of "1991-1995" on them.

Yes, there is something a little confusing about the dates shown. I can only assume that the designer knew that we would know the significance of the dates shown. A teenager these days could be confused I'm sure.

You're probably aware of this, but I don't see it stated anywhere in this thread: I believe those dates represent the 50-year anniversaries of the start and end of United States involvement in World War II.

I plan on getting the 50th anniversary WWII coin and using it along with the 1890 - 1990 Eisenhower Commemorative as end of the set hole fillers in my Eisenhower silver dollar set. Also looking at the 5 star generals coin with General Eisenhower on it as well.....but that still leaves one empty spot. They are all beautiful coins. Is there a West Point coin?

Quote: Is there a West Point coin? Yes, in 2002, the Mint issued a silver dollar to mark the 200th anniversary of West Point Academy. Here are images of mine:
