With a current bid of $181 someone is going to be very unhappy. This falls into the same catagory of those who cut uncut sheets into errors.
There really should be a special place in the bowels of a Turkish prison for these people.
If this coin had any possibility of being real (WHICH IT DOES NOT) it would be in a slab.

It doesn't look fixed to me. He can't change the description without restarting the auction and I didn't see anything added to the description. What am I missing? |

I don't see any changes either. I know it is against ebay rules to interfere with an auction but in an obvious case such as this, can't the potential buyers or ebay be notified and put an end to the auction before they get ripped-off? |

Although ebay has said that they act on ended auctions, I haven't seen them act on one in a very long time. It is technically against ebay rules to notify the winning bidder, but I would be lying if I said I had never done it. If the bidder reports your email to ebay or notifies the seller that he got an email from another ebay user and the seller reports it, there are consequences. I don't think you'd get booted off ebay permanently, but I don't honestly know. |

Those Links both went to the same auction ? Nothing was changed but the ending price!!! 227.50 + 5.00 shipping LOL ,,No return policy on the auction page,,, even if the buyer returns it and its accepted I would suspect no shipping refund ,and perhaps a restocking fee !!

The fact that he will not except paypal puts the buyer in a bad position if he pays with a personnal check bidpay or a MO--I think ebay is to big to police themselves--When it comes to collectibles? it would be impossible UNLESS potential "interested" buyers alerts safehorror--eeeerrr excuse me, safeharbor--  |

anyway would you look at that price on the thread starter.......
if somehow it was real (and the back had detail from the dies) this woulda been a $1000 plus coin.

"What you are looking at here is a COOL FIND, This is a NEW 2004 US Keelboat Nickel with a Roosevelt dime imprint on it, also called an "Indent Error". The simple story is to line up the two coins as in the photo and hit it hard with a hammer. Spend the mangled dime and sell the nickel for $227. The modern presses are very very fast, and spit these coins out by the 100's every minute. But "Somehow" an already minted dime "somehow" gets into the chamber(2nd error) and is pressed. The results looks like a hammered coin.  IMHO if you had a dime die restrike the nickel with a positive image that would be worth the money.  |

At $227.50 I sure hope that the winner refuses payment. They will be mighty unhappy once they find out that they have been scammed.

I don't believe that this was hit with a hammer though, I tried it several times and completely bent up my dime. My guess is a good "vice". Something you can put lots of pressure on.
No doubt whatsoever that this was done in somebody's shop.

Please post good pics of your results. After looking at the original coin pictured in the auction, is it me or does the shape now look a bit oblong?
