I would like to say hi to everyone in this forum and here is a piece of the New zealand 1981 Queen elizabeth II 20 cents coin with extra variety on obverse. The coin is with extra variety on obverse which has the extra double die at the back of the hair on the statue right on obverse side position and the piece has no toning,no black spots and no scatches on the surface.I would think it is constant variety and appears on similar pieces to be honest with you and the coin is in brilliant uncirculated condition. The opinion is require by me as usual. Please check it out on the scans below and let me know what you think there.Thank you

Those photos make it really hard to see the doubling you are talking about. I can see a glare line where you describe the doubling but A better photo would help. I am a little sceptical about the possibility of doubling with this coin. The reason being I would expect to also see signs in the legend. Such signs aren't there. However, as New zealand doesn't have its own mint and tenders out coin production to the lowest bidder any thing is possible.

The glace line for you meant is about the double die right at the back of the hair on the statue which is what I am talking about and the scans are obvious on above more than enough there.

I know this post has long been forgotten about but I just noticed it while surfing the net. This coin is a circulating type as the circulating and set coins were produced at different mints they actually used dies that were rather different. You will also notice comparing this coin to coins from sets that the number 8 and dress detail are different. Most years from 1969-1979 with the exception of 1971 were made at the same mint so we often find people buy sets to get mint coins but for coins in the 1980's it is a lot harder to find true unc coins now as more people find out about the differences

Self promoting my website again but photos are here of the comparisons :-)
