Hi, I'm wondering if someone can let me know what type of error this is and if anyone's seen it before in this coin? It looks like the reverse design was imprinted on the obverse. Thanks!

Obverse looks like a vise job, someone squeezed 2 coins together. Not sure what happened to the reverse, but I think this isn't a mint error.

If this had been a mint error, the maple leaves would be raised as on a normal coin, not indented. Vise job or a press of some kind.

Why couldn't this be a strike through error (partial brockage)?

If it were a strike through or partial brockage, the side without the error would be completely normal. Due to the pressure of the die remaining in contact with the planchet. When it's post mint damage/vise job, both sides are damaged in the process.

I see now this could not have been a mint error. If it were a strike through error you would not see the reverse design in the indented area. You would only see the incused design of the other coin. Also like you said Pokermandude, the obverse would look nothing like this.
