went to the bank today..asked for a box of "old" pennies
was told all we have is brand new..2nd time this has happened
you run into this as well?

went to another bank,,,this girl sighs when asked to go to the vault...note to myself,,buy her a cookie!!

I've had that happen only once or twice; and I've cracked open hundreds of boxes of every denomination.

One way around that "new coin" issue would be to pick up only customer-rolled coin.
Should not be a problem to pick up $50 worth of customer-rolled cents, I generally locate between $1,500 to $2,000 per month in dimes, for instance, from only 2 bank branches (all in one shot.)

I haven't run into this problem yet. However, I haven't been finding the usual amount of copper cents.
