Hi ElCerritoCoins,
Are you asking about the U.S. early commemoratives or the modern commemoratives or the just the most valuable commemorative coin worldwide ever minted?

The most expensive U.S. Commemorative would be the 1915-S Pan Pacific $50 gold round. It's valued between $50~$150K in mint state.

SeatedNut,
I guess it all depends on which reference you use. Coin Values Magazine for October - 2007 show the 1915-S gold $50 Octagonal, grade MS-66 at $250K. Berry

Berry,
I guess it's just how you interpret the question. Head to head the round is several thousand more than the octagonal (i.e., MS63 to MS63). PCGS hasn't graded a round in MS66, only an octagonal.

Overall, the two $50 Pan-Pac coins(round and octagonal) are tops. Yes, they are differences in value between the two but they are in a class all by themselves. For the classic silver half dollars, the most valuable would be the Hawaiian commem. If you are talking about modern commems, I think the most valuable honor would go to the 2001 Buffalo $1 although its value is a drop in the bucket compared to the previously mentioned coins.

I think the most expensive modern commemorative is the 1996 Olympic Paralympic Silver dollar in UNC. As for the most expensive $5.00 gold that title goes to the Jackie Robinson Unc.

Yep, you were right Spider- the 1996 $1 Olympic Tennis, Rowing, High Jump, and Paralympics Wheelchair all trend over $300 with mintages of 15-16,000 in MS. Wow, missed out on those...

Biokemist6. I forgot about the tennis, rowing, and high jump. The mint produced a lot of commemorative Olympic dollars that year.

rons, Last year I was hot on the trail to purchase a Library of Congress $10 bi-metallic and just could not find one in my "affordable" range, so had to drop the search, it is a very expensive coin. Current RedBook price is listing the proof (gold/platinum) at $3,500 .. Berry
