A closer shot might show us more. But it appears like machine damage possibly while the coin was being ejected? If it were a RPM the same spread should be the seen on the right side of the loop.

Note how both east and west side were affected on this RPM? This would be seen if the mark on the left side was a RPM.

Looks more like a contact mark now that I see it closer. Possibly the blow that damaged the 9 as well?
