Hello Members,

Ive here an interesting coin. It is an Iran anonyme pragung dated 1273. You don't see it much on the internet. Just to show it. I don't know if it is made in some kind of barbaric tribe because this aint an official strike I guess?

Should be this one:
IRAN
ANONYME STÄDTEPRÄGUNG. Cu-Falus 1272 AH = AD 1855. Liegender Löwe ohne Schwert vor Sonne. Rv. Schrift

Try under "anonymous civic coinage", which is the English phrase for that type of coinage.

However, this particular piece is not considered part of that series. This one is a "regular" Iran issue, a copper 50 dinars I believe. NGC catalogue page. Here's an example on zeno.ru where someone's given a translation of the script.

Thanks for the reactions! However If I see NGC catalogue it seems an very common type. But if I look alround the internet they aint for sale much. And I didn't see them alround in these years. Do anornymous civic coinage is more older aint it? then end of 19th century?

How does that come?

You don't see them for sale much because they're not easy to identify - even for Islamic coins, which aren't easy for non-Arabic-speakers to start with. When offered for sale they usually end up being called "unknown Indian coin" or something like that.
