I recently acquired some OBW rolls of LMC's (70-74pds - 75-83pd). My question is, should I leave them in the paper rolls or remove them and put them in tubes for long term storage?

Labels lie. I like to know what is inside. Open them. Examine them. Tube them. Just my opinion.

Leave them in the OBW rolls. Unless you don't like collecting rolls.

Of course once you tube them they aren't OBW's anymore and any premium for the OBW status goes out the window. It's an interesting dilemma. As long as they are rolled, you can't prove they are really OBW. And once you open them to prove it, they aren't. (Why I would never pay a premium for an OBW.)

It is a dilemma! Got them for little above face value and probably will keep them for my BU roll collection, specifically the 83 P and D. Hard to find them in pristine condition.

Personally, I do not open Mint rolls or original Federal Reserve rolls. I do open bank rolls because they could contain anything.

One old bank roll I opened contained 3 IHC's.

I would definitely open your 75-83pd rolls.

Thinking of OBW... LCS has some 1950's including a 1955 S roll... I came so close but the taped ends scare me and at 17 bucks a roll...sheesh kinda a gamble!!
