Any takers? I dont think this is "the one" after looking at a number of past sold on heritage. The Cuds on the left of the obverse look too small and there are no other markers shown in the pictures. The date also seems to be placed in a slightly different position compared to known examples. I'm guessing someone will take a big gamble though.

Indeed. The 1888/7 S-1. The only true overdate in the series.

I think anyone would be crazy to bid on this coin as a possible (S1) 1888/7. The photo is very clear and the diagnostics are not there.

It can't be the Snow-1...the date position is wrong for starters.

And yet the seller still claims it's an overdate! When people buy a scarce coin with an "S" mintmark, they expect to actually see it. But no such proof is needed for a coin to be a "variety" on eBay--just a fool's hope that you have scored big.

The Cud is to far up the coin and the bump looks like it's from a hit on the 8.
