As far as I'm aware of, dimes quarters halfs and dollars 1968 and older. Not all 1968s are silver though but you can check those with a magnet.

Hello,

The silver & gold fever era of a couple years back motivated me to manually peruse through one of those three inch thick Krause foreign coin reference tomes to derive the attached information.

I took the time to research this type of info. for a few of the more prevalent countries of which Canada was included as one of them.

The reason for the alternating italicization and multicolor format was to assist me in quickly unearthing pertinent information error-free during fast-paced auctions.

Here's the condensed quick reference list:

Note That up here in Canada, Large Dollars or Silver dollars, as well as fifty cent pcs (half dollars) are no longer in general circulation. The Silver dollar is not being produced at all, and the halves are specially ordered by collectors from the mint.

These 2 coins are still around and can be asked for at the bank, however it is hit or miss if you find any, you are way more commonly going to get the reaction of "what, you want silver coins?"

These 2 coins have not been in service for almost 30 years here in Canada.

Also note that the Silver Nickels noted above, are smaller than our dimes in diameter, so they wont sit in the nickel rolls, and if you find one in circulation, you should buy a lottery ticket because you are the luckiest man alive.

Looking for silver in Canada in rolls is not as easy as it is in the USA, as our federal bank has been pulling the silver out since the 90's with a program called the Alloy Recovery Program.

I have been hunting quarters, dimes and nickels for over 2 years, and my first piece of silver was, get this... A Silver War Nickel from the USA.
