I was looking through a roll of 64 kennedy halfs because I was considering putting them on e-bay 9 of these were P mint and of the 9 3 have a die chip on the upper part of the O in God. I assume this is common, since 1/3 of mine have it. am I wrong? Also on one of the D halfs I found a die gouge or polish mark about halfway up the stem of the second L in dollar. Is this a significat variety or do they not even consider things like these on kennedies?

Neither is considered a variety, they may be errors.
The die chips have little added value (also called Cuds), unless they are very large.

what you need to do is look for double, tripled or even quadrupled die obverses. You also need to check for repunched mintmarks on any of the Denver pieces.

You an go to my askaboutcoins site for an article I have (with Pictures) on what to look for as far as doubled dies and such on Kennedys.

To the eye and even with a lens, it looks like the details are tripled but there is a fourth hubbing involved so it actually shows the effect of being quadrupled. I would really get a kick out of seeing a picture of one that you found! That's a GREAT hit to find that many!

Have Fun,
Bill

For the 50 that I had, there were 4 of the quads, and 6 of the doubles.

I'll bring one of each in tomorrow to work and scan them in.

Here they are! I left it up to the reader to determine which one is which. I'll scan the third one in again later, sorry for the bad image.

Thanks! I love the quad one. It's one of the few I can show my wife and she can actually see what I'm talking about!
