Hey guys, found this coin/ medal. It's raw silver and was dug up in New Mexico. Was in the ground for at least 100 years. Any information would be helpful.

It's not a coin. I'm thinking it's a jewellery piece depicting Hector, or some similar figure from Greek mythology. Such medals seem to have been popular in the late 19th / early 20th century. This thread has a similar object.

How do you know it's been in the ground 100 years? It looks like a more modern replica/jewelry piece, but that's just my opinion.

Because my Grandfather is the one who dug it up, and he was an archaeologist. Thank you for the info! Also he is the one that put the hoop and chain on it.
