I stopped by my bank today to take care of some business and asked if they had any half dollar rolls. The teller told me they only had two, and I could have them. So I grabbed them and after getting home found each one had a 1964 Kennedy half in it. I haven't done much roll hunting since I was a kid in the 1960's, so I was pretty excited.

Nice find !! It's always the unplanned visits that yield the silver it seems! haha
Were they in good condition ? and 64 Ds ?

One was a 1964 and the other a 1964D. They were in nice circulated condition. I haven't found a 90% silver half in probably 35 years, although I haven't really tried all that hard. I'm finding that it is rather fun looking.

The silver's still out there, congrats! I find more today than I did as a roll hunter 35 years ago. Go figure.

Maybe it has something to do with all the kids and grandkids of coin collectors being addicts!! I've found tons of silver in convenient stores over the years. Most clerks say someone bought beer, cigs, chew, lottery, etc with these silver coins. I feel bad for those old timers!! One clerk told me a kid came in and bought a 12 pack of brew with 10 Morgan dollars!! The clerk was beside himself when he cashed those out for $30/piece. He said that was the most expensive 12 pack he ever sold. $300!! I'd say so! (FYI, that was when silver was $40/ounce)

A friend of mine from 20 years ago that I collected coins with would CRH pretty heavily in the first few weeks of school's summer vacation. He said that all the kids would break into coin collections to buy things and he would find silver quarters and dimes in coin rolls.

Ahhh, youth.
Yes indeed that's how it happens. Silver constantly finds it way into circulation. For us to find.

I'm going to make sure my kids and grandkids understand what coins are worth. At least if they steal them from me they can get more than face value!!
