the right character on the rev is the mint mark and may vary

But my coin only has a top character on reverse.

Correct. It's not an official Chinese coin. I suspect the character on the back is supposed to be "fu", or "luck/fortune". Here's a similar piece on zeno.ru, though much larger and heavier.

It's not a genuine government-issued cash coin, no. As the commenter over on zeno said, it was probably not designed to be used as money, but rather as a charm, hence the "luck" symbol - though there were genuine Ming Dynasty coins where this same "fu" character was used as a mintmark, so in theory it could have been made in a sloppy counterfeiting workshop where they accidentally "muled" a Qing Dynasty obverse with a Ming Dynasty reverse.

The light weight and pale green crust it has acquired make me think it might be Vietnamese in origin. Vietnam went through several periods where "private casting" of coins was officially tolerated, and these privately-made "unofficial coins" could have all kinds of odd designs, variations and combinations.
