Here is an 1887-S Half Eagle I purchased at an Antique Store a few years ago. What grade would you put on the flip? On a funny side note when I showed this coin to my only local dealer he said (the first thing) why don't you let me file that (S) off, LOL...

I'd give this one an AU53. Luster is not quite as good as on the 1881-S eagle in your other post but this coin has fewer contact marks. Unfortunately, there is a big ding on Liberty's neck and it looks like there is a problem above her ear. The hair curls in this area appear to have been flattened by some impact. I think this coin would likely be rejected at PCGS or NGC due to this damage.
