I just got this email from them, they are running a summer special, grade & slab 2 coins for free, you just have to pay for return shipping: Quote: Summer is a great time of year and a great time to be an ANACS Insider. Submit up to two coins on our 15 Day service and ANACS will certify them for free. That's free grading, free authentication, and free encapsulation - No strings attached. Just pay for return shipping and you're done!
Here are the Details & Limitations:
15-day service and $2000 max. value per coin. U.S. minted coins only. Other services (Attribution, Conservation, Imaging, etc.) are optional and available for an additional fee. Submissions must be postmarked by Saturday, July 5th. I'm assuming I got this email because I signed up for their newsletter, so I'm not sure if it's available to everyone

It looks like only people that subscribed to their email newsletter. It's not like it's a big deal - all I ever did was give them my email, it's free. Sign up, maybe you can still get it! Just go to http://www.anacs.com/ and click the big link that says "Sign up to become an ANACS Insider" I only signed up a month ago, so I don't know how often they send out these free deals.

Franklin Collector- No, it's not too late as long as your package is postmarked befor July 5'th. but you have to be an "Insider"... If your not I don't know if they'll let you use the promo. One of my friends tried to sign up the day after the promo email was sent and they let him sign up but he couldn't partake in the deal until the next time it comes around. Ive taken advantage of this promo every time it comes around (which is usually 3-4 times a year)... And I actually prefer ANACS so it's great! They also attribute any variety listed in the Red Book for free... I had my EF-45 1853/4 quarter attributed/graded through one of these deals for no extra charge and that's what they told me she I originally called and inquired about it.

Just sent in my 2 coins. $21 return shipping for total value under $1000. $4 to ship them to ANACS. I wait for this deal and jump on it every time it comes around.

keetoowah; I don't know this for sure, but this is my theory on why there are so many PCGS modern mint coins floating about: I would imagine PCGS gets a bunch of coins from the mint and just puts them out into the market graded. This is self-marketing; it advertises their name and their service and ensures that there are tons of PCGS coins to go around. If they're not doing it themselves, then I would think the bigger companies are paying them in bulk to take the first several thousand coins that roll off the mint and slap those "First Strike" stickers on them. Because you're right, PCGS charges $30 per coin for grading PLUS shipping and expenses. It makes no sense for any individual collector to pay $30+ to have a coin graded and then sell it on ebay for $12. And there are an awful lot of PCGS graded 2014 cents, nickles and dimes going for $12.
