I started a new thread after (Pretty red patina) because I am struggling to ID this coin. It is not who I thought it was under the crud, it looks to be Hermes. After loads of searching, only one coin seems to crop up, varieties of this one:

Everybodys Nike is advancing left but mine is advancing right. PLEASE any suggestions, this is driving me loopy.

You might be able to clean up the obverse a little more and that might help to ID the coin. This could be a variation of the coin you referenced.

I locked your first thread so we don't have two threads on the same coin.

Thanks for that echizento. I am trying not to clean it too much, I will have another go at it tomorrow. I couldn't find any other variations on this one. Obviously I am not looking in the right place!

Pish,

Given the 22mm size and what looks like a "wolf's scalp" on the obverse, I think these, from Amisos, are quite possibly a match:

Not sure what's going on with the Asiaminorcoins link. Trying again, two coins (bust of Amazon in wolf's scalp) from Amisos:

Bob, that is why I couldn't find a match under Hermes! Thank you for the links, I can find loads more now I am searching for the right thing. There were other coins from Pontos in the lot. The letters on the reverse of my coin (AMISOS) are there, unfortunately I will lose a lot of the red patina if I try to uncover it, so I think I will leave it as it is.
