Hello, all. Yesterday, I picked up these two crusty old guys for a grand total of 20c, and I was wondering how I could get them to the point where they could be identified? I have zero experience with ancients so any and all input is welcome. Thanks!

Try soaking them in either distilled water or olive oil. The first coin has bronze disease with also needs to be treated. I would recommend using olive oil it would also help with the BD.

For thick green encrustation, it would probablyu be in the region of years. Plus, they're both islamic - revealing more detail probably isn't going to help.

those light green spots may be BD, rub with fingernail. if any green powdery stuff comes off, tread it buy scraping off the stuff as best as possible, and soaking in distilled water.
