Hello Members,

Ive got this coin in my collection. Which I can't identify myself. I was wondering if someone knows more about this piece? Probably late roman times.

The emperors all started looking a like in the late period. Without out a legend It's a little more difficult to attribute who it is. IMO it looks like Constantius II.

Can be totally wrong though

The letters on the obverse that you are seeing are IVS (last part of the emperors name) and AVG (for Augustus). The reverse legend is GLORIA EXERCITVS (Gloria to the army).

That is definitely Contantius II (the only bust of this kind with the legend [CONSTAN]TIVSAVG. the only other bust with the curled hair like that is from Constans or Constantine II (really late in his reign). And yes, GLORIA EXERCITVS.

Thanks all for the reactions. The mintplace is this just Rome? Or is it impossible? Probably below the soldiers if I'm correctly?

No, there were several places throughout the empire that minted these. The mint is located under the two soldiers on your coin, but because there is material missing on the edges it's unable to be read.

You are right. It is very hard to read.
It looks like the letters could be these. Only then some comparing..

H I L X (all letters seems to have the same top like those I mentioned here before)
Wich mintplaces do you have? Maybe we can figure it out...
