So, I am always happy to buy a certified coin, espicially if its priced right. BUT...... I enjoy freestylin and hitting swap meets, yard sales, CL ads, pretty much anywhere you might find coins! I've gotton lucky a few times and unearthed some beauties!! So, I want to see what you guys find elsewhere in the world. Please no Junk, I'm looking for nice pieces with pics and price paid. I'm going out tomarrow and I will post what I get! Happy Hunting!

I was once returning from a coin show in Albany, New York (where I bought nothing) and decided to take the path less traveled so as to avoid monotonous interstate driving. Along the way I passed by a barn selling antiques and figured what the heck, stop and see what's there.

At first glance it didn't appear as if there would be anything coin-related, aside from a water-damaged box of some old numismatic journals but before leaving I stopped at the cash register to ask if there was anything in the place that I might have missed.

As it turns out there was an old dish of coins at the register for $20.00 which contained a bunch of copper-nickel world coins of no real value. Normally I wouldn't have given this a second look but since it was a nice lazy afternoon I decided to look through the dish. Lo and behold - I found this nice AU Canadian cent with some luster remaining, which the proprietor agreed to sell for "a couple of bucks" so I brought it home with me.

It wasn't a major score but offset the cost of a tank of gas to the show and back.

OK!! Here is my find!! I replied to a craigslist find a couple weeks ago! This guy said he had 6 silver coins to sell. Now, I responded the same day as I check frequently! I agreed to meet up with him at a Walmart. He said he got these from a family member in an estate and didn't collect coins or want them. He wanted $80.00..... I couldn't pay him fast enough! When I got home and looked them up, I about cried! This is what freestylin is all about! The other 2 weren't that great, an 1875 5 franks and a 1882 Mexico 8 reale.I will post more when I find it and hope you all add to it!!

The 1851A Swiss 5 Fr. piece is valued at $265 in the Standard Catalogue of World Coins - congratulations! The others are just additional gravy :)

Thanks for info! I personally like the 8reale the best, then the Thaler. I will trade or sell everything besides those...
