2014 $1 Mob Of Roos Mint Roll

Most of the coins in the 2 rolls I received were pretty bagged up.
Which is a bit of a shame as with a low mintage AND the dealer preference for distributing these coins you would think That RAM would have taken some care and attention.
I am in the process of setting up a new Camera set up and will post pic's of the defected coins ASAP.
When you are looking through these types of rolls not only pay attention to the high points and the fields , the Rim gets marked up as well and this will also lead to a lower grade.

It will protect the coins well enough. Putting the rolls in sealed bags may be a good idea too as they will keep moisture out.

Hello guys just a quick question on mint rolls, In many mint rolls that I have come across I have noticed that the two coins on the out side tend to lose there lustre over time.

Even though they look ok to the eye at first but when you open them it is very noticeable that the two coins on the outer faces have definitely lost a lot of lustre.

Is there a way of preventing this from happening , Maybe stuff them in tissue paper or similar.?

I have bought a few rolls of this 2014 MOR. and would like to just put them away for my kids with the rest of my stuff I have been saving but would like to protect them best I can. I also read somewhere that tissue paper scratches the coins is this true. Thank you.

Wow! Just been looking at some 2014 $1 coin images on ebay.

Most are images that hide the condition of the coin.

One image of a single coin is used 5 times and has pits in the roos and very scratched queen's head and the rim looks to not be the best strike and has dint as well.

Digital magnifier looks like it is going to get a work out on my coins. I will put some stiff clear plastic over the top of the coin and have a good look. Looks like magnification tells no lies.

I have got 3 lots of coin rolls from three different bulk sellers. Thought It might get me three different parts of the minting.

I just bought a 2014 MOR $1 at the Melbourne ANDA show. Cost me $3.50 and I was able to cherry pick the best one. Very happy with the result.

If the entire 1 million mintage is on rolls sold to dealers then I don't think this is going to be a rare coin.

kg5 , it doesn't work that way. There is only 1 mill minted of the 2014 roo design, the 20 odd mill will be the Anzac coin.

Those numbers have already been set in stone buy the mint so it wont change in fact minting of the 2014 coins is already complete and the 2015 issue is already in progress.

As for them being in mint rolls yes they are but the entire 1 mill will not be sold threw the coin dealers they just get first shot,(money spinner).

They will be lucky to move a quarter of that with the rest going to Chubb armaguard etc for circulation OH and the mint always hold back some for years to come as has been proven with many coins pre decimal and decimal even though they wont admit it, this will happen late this year or early next year about the same time you will see the Anzac coin in circulation.

As for quality it is just a coin made for circulation so the mint isn't going to take any special precautions in looking after them they just spit them out in to a stillage and then pack them in rolls. So rim knocks and scratching is inevitable. But that's what makes a coin rare the odd one that gets threw un scathed.
