As for framing alignment, I think the Date and the Denomination should be at the very bottom. You have the reverse correct, with 50C. centered at the bottom, but obverse is rotated a bit. 1810 should be centered at bottom. rmpsrpms Pillar of the Community United States 4038 Posts	Posted 06/30/2014 12:21 am What's happening with the image wash-out is the camera is responding to the overall exposure in the frame rather than to the coin. More magnification will help, and also using a "spot" exposure mode to eliminate the compensation due to the dark background.
