I would look for Loonies between 1997 and 2001, there must have been a glut because they are only issued in sets.

Unless the others are pristine Mint State or varieties they have no value beyond face.

Some coins shops and buyers at shows in the US buy modern Canadian coins below face if they buy them at all. I have even bought quantities of Canadian coins at below face since the seller didn't know or care about the exchange rate. I once bought a hoard of about $100 or so face value of Canadian coins at a coin show for less than $50 US. At the time the Canadian dollar was about par with the US. Included in the hoard were a few dozen Loonies, a couple nickle dollars, some silver 50's and 60's 10 and 25 cent coins and several hundred pre-60 cents. The rest was mostly 1970-2000 circulation coins.

Since I go to Canada once or twice a year and adore Canadian coinage I watch for these in the US. Unless you are like me though you might have a problem disposing of them even at face value.

There are some minor varieties such as the Terry Fox full grass/no grass but none that are worth a premium. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ar-1987-2014

Look for the 2012 old style loonie.

All recent loonies have a new security feature above the loon and the date is moved below the Queen and the colour is a bit different. Most 2012 loonies have these features, but a few were made before the change and they are now somewhat desirable.

The pawn shop I used to work for (they are crooks, I didn't last long there) had a sign with a picture of the types of gold they buy, and in it was a loonie. I thought that was strange. They're not gold, or golden, they are plated steel.

Interesting stuff, how many "old style" loonies were minted and put into circulation ?
