I know how hard it is to get a decent photo of a coin.

I, personally, love any coin with an animal on it. So, nice find. I'm sure you're happy with your purchase. I'll have to hunt around for one like that for my set of critter coins.

Yes, they do great artwork. I mean, it's not just a kangaroo sitting there. When I look at that coin, I can easily imagine the power/strength of the animal's legs. It is just a very good design and I doubt you will ever tire of looking at it.

As an Aussie - I agree. The penny with the kangaroo and the design of the series before that one are the best two looking coins I have seen.
There kangaroo penny's last year was 1964 and there are plenty of beautiful examples readily available.

Looks like its been cleaned to within an inch of its life. You got ripped off for $9.

Having never cleaned a coin I can neither agree nor disagree. Copper coins will deteriorate for any number of reasons and perhaps this coin was saved from further deterioration -- but from what I see in the photos, the devices do not look worn. When I see a worn coin that is all clean and shiny, then I would suspect it's been clean. But, like I wrote, I've never cleaned a coin.
