sweetap Valued Member Australia 301 Posts	Posted 07/02/2014 02:10 am Hello everyone. Have some bank notes I got for face value today , my lovely daughter works at a Comm bank and grabbed them for me. I no nothing about bank notes and this is my very first purchase, I didn't want to feel ungrateful so I just took them. Notes are something I've not really considered. But she new I liked old coins and gets me some occasionally. OK firstly there in very nice condition for there age I think colour is still amazing on all the first set of notes. They look fairly new to be honest. There is a few others that are from a different set I will put at the bottom. First set as I got them today $100 $50 $20 $10-5-2-1 notes , All look very nice to me. Any info would be much appreciated. I think some of the numbers are fairly close on the second set. Many thanks Shane. This is the second lot the $10 has had it but the $5 is nice and 4 of the $1 notes are nice two very nice the 3 together are average no rips or that just wrinkly. Thank you in advance for any help. Gradings generally run from: Very Good VG (=Very Bad), to Fine F , Very Fine VF, Extremely Fine EF , About Uncirculated aUNC to Uncirculated UNC. There are also some gradings made up to fill the gaps in between i.e. "good VF" = better than VF but not EF, or another is "about EF" = not quite to EF grade. your first lot of pics: 1991 $100 - Fraser & Cole signatures (grades under VF = up to $140) 1991 $50 - as above (grades at VF = $60) 1985 $20 - "OCR-B" serial type - Johnston & Fraser signatures (grades at VF = $25) 1985 $10 - Johnston & Fraser signatures (would grade under EF = up to $25) 1990 $5 - Fraser & Higgins signatures (grade at VF = $12) 1985 $2 - Johnston & Fraser signatures (grade at EF = $4) 1982 $1 - Johnston & Stone signatures (grade at EF = $3) Sorry to say that these notes are nice but the catalogue value is fairly low even for the VF & EF notes. I must stress though that grading is subjective and I grade my notes harshly. Others on the forum may have differing opinions. your second lot of pics: 1968 $10 - Phillips & Randall signatures = Poor note 1983 $5 - Johnston & Stone signatures (grades at about VF = $12) next 4 $1 notes - 1982 $1 - Johnston & Stone signatures (all grade at EF = $3) next lot of three $1 notes 1979 Knight & Stone signatures (VG grade = face value) 2 x 1982 Johnston & Stone signatures (grade at F = face value) Also, I've used last years Mcdonald's catalogue for the values. I will write down the dates etc as reference , never know one day they may go up a bit. I will just put them in a book and leave them be for a while let my kids and grandies have them later. Also they are no where near as creased in hand as they appear in the photos , They look really nice when you hold them no dirt no marks.
