I've now bought one coin via it(out of about 10 tries) and sold 2.

A couple months ago, I won a coin in one of their auctions I really wanted/liked. A PCGS 1937-D MS67 buff for $528.75 I was really happy to win. My ANACs one was the only one of 4 that didn't cross on my batch a few months ago, so I was happy to replace it so quickly with a PCGS one at a decent pricepoint.

Then the dilemma arose. 4 days later, before it had shipped IIRC let alone arrived, I get an offer for $1000 ( net $900 ) for it via the "Make Offer" thingy. I hadn't gone in and marked it "Not For Sale" so it was open to offers.

I rejected the offer and made it "Not For Sale" at that time. I was half afraid the person would up the offer more and really tempt me to sell. hahaha

I treated it as more of a "validation" that what I liked about the coin someone else did too!

I think a lot of folks would have sold tho - an almost 60% profit in a couple days is mighty strong/tempting.

I felt even better after I sold a coin a week later, via the Make Offer, for 1500(1350 to me) I had paid 820 for two years ago, cha ching! A cleaned ANACs walker no less - full retail is only 1350 on it so someone really fell in love. ;) The only downside is it did take over 5 weeks before the check arrived. They said it could be 30 days but then made it out on the 30th day and it took a week more to get to me. The first one I sold did not take that long IIRC.

I have seen the feature, but never used it. I assume Heritage must take a cut on those sales as well, do you know how much their share is for the handling of the transaction, or did you deal directly with the new buyer?

I've seen the feature too. I've only bought with heritage twice before and never sold with them (Shipping is pricey so it's only worth it to me if it's a higher-end coin that I really like).
The feature is a good idea IMO and looks like it's really useful. 10% is very reasonable for a coin that gets the amount of attention these do with the customer base that heritage has and your coin will be there for years unlike ebay. Being in Canada I'm at a significant disadvantage when buying with some of the US sellers so I can't offer much experience. Although, if I do see a nice coin I would be inclined to make an offer on it.

****(Edit): Something that popped into mind: We've talked more than a few times about notorious ebay sellers (Mainly Centsles) who buy problem-coins from Heritage and such and then basement-slab them and sell them on ebay with a higher-grade problem-free designation. Maybe that's why the buy paid more than full retail for a problem coin? Was the problem not easily visible or not very "problematic"?

westcoin, as zx said it is a flat 10% ( and as I indicated in my post with 900/1000 and 1350/1500 ). So much better than the 17.5% on auction sales there and they absorb the cc/PP fees so it is better than ebay's 10% + 3%.

zx, it was "cleaned AU55 details" with a lot of luster and eye pop but no hiding that it had been cleaned - not harshley but obviously. I hope they weren't buying it to crack and try to fool someone else. I figure they just liked the look for an early Walker - like I did when I bought it. I was going to crack it for my album but never did. I bought another(early Walker cleaned AU58 ANACs) for 620 at the same time and haven't cracked it yet either. I'm not as amenable to "problem" coins these days. Don't mind parting with them at all - tho some are mighty eye catching despite their "issues"!
