I'm new to coins, but I know I've always had a hard time finding someone to take my spare change jars in the past. After searching through 500 dimes or 2000 pennies, where do you take back the leftovers. Do you re-roll them? Just trying to figure out the logistics.

Quote: You'd take em back to the bank. Except, never bring them back to the bank you got them from! You can roll them and bring them back to dump banks (the opposite of pick up banks), or if you are very lucky, you have a local bank that has a coin counter. I re-rolled them for a little bit until I found a local bank that has a coin counter free to use if you have an account. If you have a bank with a coin counter, step lightly at first, once you know the tellers, increase the dumps as you feel you can. You never want to loose the privilege of free coin counter use!

You can use them at Walmart through their self check out lines just be warned that you need to go slowly and hopefully you don't over tax the coin counter inside. They also have zero fee Coinstar (you have to get a gift card instead of cash)

Definitely the bank. As explained above, you should have a pick-up and a dump bank, the reason for this being so you don't receive your dumped coins back.
Some re-roll their leftovers and trade them for more rolls or boxes. I, however, have a coin counter at my bank, so I don't even have to re-roll. Which is lucky for me, because I sometimes bring in over $125 worth in pennies at a shot!

The reason is because your pickup bank will tell you to get lost after about 3 weeks of abusing the system if you bring it back to them. You can't beat the main source bank / supplier for your region. It doesn't matter what brand bank or branch you dump at you will get the same coins back.

I roll mine back up and take them to my dump bank.
My son helps me roll them back up, so we can get it done very quickly.

I'm in Canada, so all the coin counters are free and have no limits, except for the few Coinstars in the grocery stores. Usually I just dump them in the counter, but most of the time it's off so I have to count how much I take out before hand so I know how much to ask back as a credit. Usually they trust me with it. Sometimes, if it's a small amount, and I know I got shorted in some of the rolls, I will put exactly the same amount that I was shorted back into the rolls, and take them to the same brand of bank I got them from.

I don't use the Walmart coinstar as they don't have the Amazon gift card option on them around here. I found a local store that has a coinstar with all the gift card options and use that one exclusively. I usually only do cents in the coinstar, but it really sucked up some boxes of cents when my wife wanted a kindle.

My credit union won't take bulk change, sadly. And other banks won't take it unless you have an account.
