900 silver nickels. That is the offer on the table. Would you take that offer or would you rather have $1.10 per Eisenhower? Curious at what you would do? Thanks

I would take the deal. You have 900 coins which are not likely to appreciate much, unless there are high grade coins in the lot, or rare varieties among them. The 900 War Nickels contain 45 ounces of silver. Silver can go up or down, but has lately been on a tear to the upside. The question to ask yourself is whether you think that silver will be worth more or less in terms of the US dollar in the future. If you can answer that question to your own satisfaction, your course of action will be clear.

Best of luck.

War Nickels may have a $1.18 of silver in them currently but they are very difficult to sell due to having such a low silver content. I've heard that they are difficult/costly to refine and thus are sold at a significant discount. The dealers in my area are offering only $0.65 each for War Nickels currently.

Ask if he'll split it up. I would take 1.10 for 800 of the Ikes and 100 War Nickels if I could.

Joe, that is exactly what I was thinking. And that is a ton of nickels to store. Not sure I want to do that.

He called back and said he would pay $1.05 per Ike. Luckily I had someone else call and offered $1.15 per Ike. Guess which one I'm going with!?

That was a timely call. I agree sitting on that many nickels does not sound enticing. Good idea to take the money and run!
