Was wondering if all 73-S silver business strikes had the type 3 reverse ?
Thus, did all of the 73-S silver proofs have the type 2 rev. ?

Reason that I am asking is because I just came across
a 73-S 40% silver ike but was not sure if it was once a proof
or just a business strike. Very good strike but a few hits on it. I bought it loose. Was not in a blue or brown.

It would have to be SEVERELY damaged to not be able to tell if it had been a proof or not.

Not really damaged but just a few hits on it.
I never found or bought one before (S mint silver)
that was not either a blue or brown (in the box, not loose). Was more curious about my original questions. It's not cameo but many proofs are not either. I've seen many other coin denominations out in the wild loose that were proofs but one would not know it to look at them. Unless of course they know the difference. Could not find any definitive answers to what type/types of reverses were used on both
proofs and business strikes. At least for this yr. 73

Id say its a MS coin.. Those proof IKE's are just so unmistakeable. I dont know how someone could take the proof sheen of..think the worst it could get short of something evil like a blow torch..would be proof like.. I believe it would retain some sort of sheen somewhere.. Thats my humble opinion..maybe biokemist could throw out some ideas how to de-proof a proof.. That polishing step proofs go through is long lasting.or permanant even on clads but silver? I picked a 1964 P9 dime out of a junk box and it had to have taken many many hits and it had a couple scuff and a fingerprint.. Definitly degraded but still unmistakeable proof coin. here is two ikes one a proof one a MS and both great quality coins..on purpose I took the picture to hide cameo so it should be easy to spot the proof they are both silver
