Came across a 1969 quarter and 1964 nickel that has a large flanged rim. Both are smaller than regular nickels and quarters. Both are a dull grey. Are these coins errors.

Thanks in advance.

nope, theyre either spooned or Dryer Coins, people sometines hit the edge of a coin with something to make this rim or the coin gets lost in the dryer and hits and rolls on its edge for years in some cases, in both cases the coin will look like this and have a smaller diameter with a higher rim.

I agree. Dryer Coins. Not errors.

I disagree as I never once found a coin that got stuck inside of a dryer.
I have however found several that got stuck in the pump of the washing machines. Some made it longer than others before they wrecked the pump.

" Dryer Coin" is just a name.
Those are some impressive examples Dredge!
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

DBM I guess I take things to literal, sorry no disrespect meant.
I would rather someone know how something has happened, rather than offering a termed expression that is rather misleading.
