I notice that the 1955 Proof sets come in small square boxes in small stapled individual envelopes, and also in a single flat envelope where they are all sealed in the same sheet of plastic. Are they the same coins? Is it better to own the square box type or the flat envelope? The envelope version looks a little more stable. Any info on these two types is much appreciated.

I like the flat packs from the treasury. I would suspect alot of people make their own sets in the plastic containers then close em up. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, I can see how the flat packs are the way to go. Those unopened little boxes do look very cool though. It's my birth year so I might have to get one of each.

The proof sets prior to 1955 were packaged in the box but 1955 was a transitional year with both box and pliofilm sets produced. The flat pack commands a slightly higher price than the box for 1955.
