I really don't know what is going on with this coin. If it is some sort of collar or die cap error, how exactly would one describe the error? If it is PMD, then would it have happened soon after the coin was minted, considering the evenness of the patina?

I'm posting the best pics I can get at the moment... unfortunately I had to rush these.

As always, any insights will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, biokemist6. I had a feeling it was some sort of nonsense. My only question is WHY would anyone do this? Boredom, perhaps?

As others have said, the coin was vandalized outside the Mint.
Error coin writer and researcher.
