It is almost impossible to strike a dime design onto a cent planchet because the planchet will not fit in a dime collar. The only exception to this rule would be a Mint worker "manufacturing" an error and that would involve physically disengaging the collar from the striking process. You can strike a smaller diameter design on a larger diameter planchet but not the other way around. A dime was hammered onto the reverse of the cent which flattened the obverse side. It appears the front is very mushy, and the reverse, you can see the reeding within the design of the Cent's reverse. Clearly a vise job, not a mint error Report this Post to the Staff
