I came across a 2010D gold looking penny today also it is about 8 to 10 thousandths thicker. Just wondering if it is something people have seen before?

to CCF fellow Michigander.It could be a plated coin or it just toned that color on it's own.Could also be what is called a "brass plate" that happens at the mint.

The coin is likely plated with brass. (Somebody pretty much layered the original coin with Brass, can't explain it any better).
