This piece, as alrerady noted, is Japanese.

Thirty years ago, I was buying cast cash coins from dealers' junk boxes for 10 or 20 cents each. I just tried to buy as much variation in the calligraphy as possible.
I had NO idea if they were genuine or not, and at that price, I didn't care either, because I had no way I could identify them! I ended up accumulating about 200 coins.

I bought a copy of Schjoth many years later, and their price rose very much above my buy prices of years earlier. I was able to very happily discover that I had most Emperors and Dynasties of China, as well as a few Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese cash coins as well. They are now all full documented, and housed in 2x2's, in an album specially set aside for cash coins.

Today they form a loved and integral part of my World coin collection, and cover an expanse of time of about 2,000 years.
