Just curious if anyone has ever bought coins or currency from one of those big newspaper ads where it states if you live in such and such county then call at this time and pay a $99 dollar vault bag fee and they will send you a vault bag full of money...

I usually see their ads a few times a month in the Indianapolis Star newspaper and the company who is selling them is not affiliated with the US Mint or US Government... So is this a ripoff cause it sounds to good to be true with some of the coins you could get....

I say don't do it. They try to get unknowledgable collectors and charge them more than the coin's worth. They say that the grade and value are in their "resident expert's" opinion, which means overgraded and overpriced.

Oh I don't plan on doing it because it sounds like a huge ripoff to me...

I saw an ad the other day for currency and they listed the $2 red seal as "rare" when you can buy them all day on the internet so they can't be that "rare"

Stay away from them. Read the ads carefully and work out what you get compared to the cost and you will find that NONE of them are in the "too good to be true" category.

I think you'll find at the bottom of the ad it lists World Reserve Monetary Fund as the one doing the ad.

I'd avoid them most likely junk coins that are worth way less than $99.

STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY PLEASE!

I had a guy beg me to come see him, explaining about his collection of MS-63 Carson City Coins he was going to sell me for $125 apiece, because he needed money.

I was supposed to meet him in the parking lot at Target, and when I got there, he insisted I meet him at the restaurant across the street. This restaurant was CLOSED and DARK!!

I smelled the trouble, and called off the dogs....and he never called back.

...there was a RASH of robberies with coins in Maryland, that can be pulled from the internet, regarding craigslist and robberies.

Never, ever, ever do these, unless you have an entourage of 12 guys and a police escort

If the coins were valuable they would tell you what they are because it would command a higher price.
