Hi dazdriscmufc, we need a photo for a proper identification!

It sounds to me like a Moroccan coin - these often have a six-pointed star on one side and the date on the other - AH1299 would correspond to the Christian Era date 1882AD.

Sounds like it's a Moroccan coin from around 1880 ish, don't have the conversion tables to hand. Depending on size it's either 2 1/2, 5 or 10 Dirhams. Weight and size will help, but above all

Edit: Beaten to the punch by Rob. Again!

If Moroccan, It's either 2 1/2, 5, or 10 Dirhams. These range in value from $4 (silver melt value) to a few hundred dollars for coins in perfect condition (which yours is not based upon the 'missing 9' in your description). As stated above, we need pics to narrow down this range.
