Yes they did make a proof in 1996 in the Phila Mint

From 1986-1992 the proofs were made in San Fran (S) mint mark
From 1993-2000 the proofs were made in Phila, 2000 last year of the (P) mint marked proof
2001- present coins made in West Point

In 2009 no proofs were issued due to a Gov't silver shortage.

In 1995 they made the regular business strike and the regular proof but also a special proof coin that was minted at West Point Mint and included in the 10th Anniversary AGE set. Mintage only 30,000 very valuable.

No such thing as a stupid question, every question and answer is a learning experience for someone

Your questions are not stupid, you just do not know the answers that is why you ask them. Don't belittle yourself or your questions because the main reason we are all here is to learn and share our knowlege, so ask away.

For the 1986 to 1992 issues, the plush case and cardboard box were a maroon color. When production moved to Philadelphia in 1993, the maroon color was used the first year. Starting in 1994, the box and plush case color were changed to a very dark blue that appears nearly black at times.

Finally, with the commencement of production at West Point in 2001, the packaging once again changed color, this time to dark blue (but noticeably lighter than the Philadelphia packaging). It is not uncommon to find coins in the wrong color box in the aftermarket due to collectors and dealers using boxes from an incorrect Mint to replace damaged or missing boxes.

Are you talking about the green "monster box"? They are from the mint and hold 500 ASE's.

Interesting topic- hey denco- why are the 1995 ASE's the same price as the others online? Were you referring to something else? You mentioned a 30,000 mintage figure.

I was talking about the special issue 1995 W proof that was included in the 10th anniversary AGE set.

The regular 1995S(but no mint mark) bullion coin (4.6 mil) and the 1995P proof (438,511) are different

Yup, bad dream. I have never seen a single ASE (PF or W) that was in an original Mint "green" box.

I DO have some bullion ASE's in the BIG green "monster" box

Yes but those were not sold separately, only as part of the San Francisco. anniversary set or the 2012 Coin and Currency Set.

Yes, I know.

I have one sitting here.

The anniversary set that is.

Beautiful set.

It has my very first Reverse Proof coin in it. I Love it!
