I don't know why ebay decided that coins don't qualify for free buy-it-now listings and you have to pay an insertion fee. Where is the next best place where I can sell coins? I don't like selling coins using the Auction listing. People tend to ignore listings that don't start at .99 cents and we all know how that type of listing can wind up sometimes. You also have to start your bid 30% less than your BIN now price so it is difficult to know what to charge. I discount the coins already and another 30% discount just to list can make selling pointless.

I hear ya but I just go ahead and list auction with my starting as my old BIN price. Have sold a couple of coins that way. If I feel like offering a BIN I just add 30% - as per their rules. But usually I just leave that option off as no one in their right mind would buy for 30% more than reasonable - and my prices are reasonable - IMO. I like some of their price suggestions - WAY WAY LOW.

It does suck that they decided to charge tho - I won't give into that, on principle.

Good idea since it can be hard to balance that 30% above listing for buy it now. I know what you mean. If you want to give a discount of 30% of the listed price, you have to give another 30% on the listing price which can sometimes not end well since you have to pay for shipping plus ebay and Paypal fees on top of that. You can pay the insertion fee but that is another 30 cents on top of the 30 cents Paypal takes plus the percentages. If the coin is only worth a few bucks, pointless to bother selling it.

If you sell a fair amount you might want to consider paying for a store. I think it's $19.99 per month and they give you 150 free BIN insertions. At $0.20 each that's $30.00 you'd save if you're listing 150 per month. Break even is to list around 100 per month. Of course if you're not listing near that many it's probably not a good option.

As for other options, there might be some out there, but I can't imagine any would give you near the exposure that ebay does. Or if they did, I'm sure they're going to cost you a lot more than ebay charges.

That sounds like something to think about, a store. I get plenty of free auctions though. You get 2 X 50 free auctions and for some reason mine resets when I complete the first 50 free auctions. I always sold BIN though because sometimes those .99 starting auctions did not end well for me sometimes. The free BIN with the auctions sometimes works for me but sometimes don't if they choose the less expensive auction option which can make selling the coin pointless. There is also the issue with BINs lasting a month rather than a week. Guess I just got to figure another option. I will try what BuffaloRock suggested and I can just end the auction and sell to the first bidder if I want.

I also have been using the bidding starting at my intended price. In one sense it is better, since you get a slight break on fees for bid items. But, many people who are willing to buy a coin want to complete the transaction immediately, so bidders are few, Some sellers ffer a mixture of high and low starting bid items, hoping people visit and look at everything.

True, Henry Smith. A few .99 cent bids does attract attention. I tend to watch that though. Had an 1888 V nickel go for 99 cents that way with shipping cost or Barber dimes go for close to melt plus shipping. Some go for more though than what I would sell for. I don't know why ebay stopped free BIN listings for some categories like coins. I would rather just offer a good price BIN. Issue is if you start your bidding higher, you usually get one bid which can result in too low of a sale. If you have a BIN and a 99 cent auction, someone comes along and bids on all of them trying to get at least one at 99 cents with free shipping.
