I apologise in advance if this is a silly question but just wondering about early Australian decimal coin values.

I have McDonald's guide and note that type 1 1966 one cent proof coin is listed at $15 but on auction site numisbid.com.au a one cent proof coin is listed as having value of $575-$675. What am I missing?

I'm guessing the higher price is a graded coin

Proof coins have different values in different grades, the McDonald guide only lists one value. $15 is about right for a PR64 but higher grade pieces command significantly higher prices.

It also should be noted that the decimal proof market is still quite immature, so prices can fluctuate wildly. Numis Bid estimates are set at the Blue Sheet price at the time of listing but as the value may vary from that time to the auction date so it's best to check the Blue Sheet for up to date values.

Thanks for the feedback and advice. Grading is obviously something I need to do some research on.
