A key-date to the series and pretty rare coin. I'm considering buying this one. Seller doesn't mention a cleaning but there is a lot of chatter/scratches all over and no toning. Thoughts on grade/Originality of fields?

F-12. I'd pass. If the chatter/surfaces bother you now they will definitely will in the future.

This quarter is a Briggs-1 which is the tougher of the two varieties for this year.

Part of me says yes it has been cleaned, the other part of me says maybe.

I think it may have been cleaned. Would slab problem free at a TPG? I think it has a good chance but you never know.

Not to do a group think, I was thinking fine as well without checking the PCGS photograde.

Ugh... part of me really wants to buy this. Knowing that they're tough to find and only a few dozen show up for sale over the span of a year. But I guess I'm going to have to hold out for a higher-grade problem-free specimen for my collection. I've now collected most of the dates that was issued in Seated coinage (Not Including Seated dollars) and am moving on to Semi-Key dates. Just bought the 1868-P and 1866-S Seated dime's today as well is decent XF/AU conditions. Thanks for all the opinions.

Looking at the date I'm gonna say it was cleaned.
