Been lurking around for awhile. Went to the bank and received very crisp $100.00 star notes Serial Numbers K 02295710 and K 02295717 through K 02295720. Series is 1977. Any idea of value would be greatly appreciated.

For Dallas Star Notes $100.00 singly in Crisp Unc are worth $150.00 a piece and $250.00 each in Choice CU consecutive runs would bring a premium usually in runs of 12 or more. Also my book is dated 2004 so the price could have raised since then

Ok scoutjim99 you have peaked my interest... why are specifically dallas star notes worth so much? I know almost nothing about notes other than I like silver certificates lol

Welcome, Kwags! Hope you have a good time here at the forum.

Steve...as in all things collectible, it is the condition and relative scarcity that determine value. There are fewer Dallas star notes than others, I would bet. I don't have my book with me showing printing volumes, but that would be my guess.

They are worth a bit more because they are 1977 series. I would guess that back then not so many people kept one dollar star notes. 2003 series sell for $125. 1999 series sell for around $150. So the older the series the more they tend to sell for. All these people who kept consecutive star notes from that far back have need selling them, they the new person breaks them up and sells them in smaller packs to make profits. When so many people do this there becomes less and less packs of 100 consecutive notes. So when you come across 100 of them all consecutive, you tend to have a larger pack than most people out there. So everyone wants to upgrade to bigger lots of consecutive notes and new collectors would rather have the older consecutive notes compaired to newer series. But in general, there are quite a few of them printed, regardless of the district location.

From the newest paper money values magazine the K*s in Ch CU are $250, EF is $135. With some consecutive serial number star notes I'd suspect you may get an even higher return.
